Minimum points marked “from” are the lowest per-occupation minimum score invited in that round — recent rounds publish cut-offs by occupation rather than a single score. Open a round for the full occupation table.

What invitation rounds are

SkillSelect is the Department of Home Affairs system for skilled-migration expressions of interest (EOIs). You lodge an EOI with a points score, and the department runs periodic invitation rounds that invite the highest-ranked EOIs to apply for a visa. Departmental rounds cover the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) and the family-sponsored stream of the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491). State-nominated visas (subclass 190 and state-nominated 491) are invited by state and territory governments, not by these rounds.

Your points score comes from the points test: age, English ability, skilled employment, qualifications and other factors. The test’s pass mark is 65 points, but a round’s minimum invited score is set by competition, not by the pass mark — invitations go to the highest-ranked EOIs until the round is exhausted. When EOIs tie on points, the earlier “date of effect” (when the EOI reached that score) wins the tie-break.

Older rounds published a single minimum points score per visa subclass. Since 2023, the department instead publishes the minimum score invited for each occupation, so cut-offs now vary by occupation within the same round. Where this table shows “from”, that figure is the lowest per-occupation cut-off in the round.
